Can thinking like a winner really have the potential to change your life? Absolutely! If you haven’t already embraced this powerful mindset, then know that committing to this new way of thinking can actually change your life starting now. How exciting is that!
You see, in order to start thinking like a winner you must be willing to believe that anything is possible. You must begin to embrace the truth that is simply is not too late for you. You still have honey in the rock of your life. Take a minute to think deeply about that. Okay, great! Now realize in order to get to that honey, you need to make a commitment to yourself that you will focus on changing your thoughts to winning thoughts. Commit today, to think like the winner that you already are.
These 8 ways to think like a winner and begin to change your life:
1. Winners Listen to and Follow their Intuition. Your intuition is otherwise known as your gut. That feeling that you have deep down on the inside of you. It’s great to follow wise advice. But oftentimes women can become guilty of following the advice that counteracts their innermost gut. Winners don’t usually do this. They will consider wise advice. However, they run it through their a well-nurtured gut to see if it lines up with their innermost values and goals before making a decision. They are very aware of how intuitions and insights come to them and are tuned-in internally to make wise decisions.
2. Winners are aware of who they are. Once again, self-awareness is a crucial starting point for winners. They tend to know their strengths, weaknesses, personality, values, etc. They know that the most important (and interesting) thing to know about is “self.” Without a deep abiding and growing self-awareness, you can be susceptible to building someone else’s beautiful life. This typically doesn’t happen to winners because they know who they are and they have clarity on who they are not.
3. Winners reflect on and learn from past experiences. Instead of dwelling on the past, they tend to examine it finding out what works and what doesn’t, and then adjust their course of action as needed. They think about things before jumping in, and also take the time after-the-fact to actively reflect to fully understand what happened or didn’t happen.
4. Winners choose “abundance thinking”. Most of us live in a world surrounded by abundance. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat, water to drink and clothes to wear. Most of our basic needs are met. However, we live in a society that constantly celebrates more..more..more..more…, even when you technically have enough. This has an extremely negative effect on your brain. Here’s why. When you can not recognize that you currently, at this present moment, are living in abundance, the brain only detects lack. Lack is governed by fear. Lack and fear thinking activates the amygdala, that part of the brain that emits stress hormones. Once that cortisol and adrenalin kick in it makes the brain go into “survival mode”. Without even consciously thinking, you have an established a habitual pattern and a vicious cycle of survival. The danger here is that your higher thinking abilities that lie in your prefrontal cortex, take a back seat to fear central. By cultivating an abundance mindset, you can appreciate what you have on your way to getting more all the while nourishing that part of the brain that can actually help you win.
5. Winners tend to be more open-minded. They are usually open to different perspectives and see possibilities where most people don’t. They are comfortable with paradoxes and can relate to numerous sides of an issue or opinion.
6. Winners tend to be adaptable. Although they are usually visionaries and planners, winners know when and how to pivot. They are not afraid to adapt to new ideas and technologies. Even when their plan didn’t quite work the way they thought it might, they don’t hesitate to make the necessary adjustments. Also, they don’t insist on doing things the same old way that it’s been done for the past 30 years. They are open to exploring the novelties of our ever-changing world.
7. Winners are resourceful thinkers. They don’t struggle with the ego of having to know it all, but they do know where to go to get whatever information, resources, training, education that they need. They are well networked and have people to call on for resource referrals.
8. Winners have embraced the “beginner” mentality. Even though they are developing certain expertise along the way, winners have learned the art of thinking like a beginner. Instead of trying to show off all of their knowledge, they approach each learning experience with a teachable heart. They may know a lot about any given subject, however, when they sit down to learn something they leave what they know at the door to make room to actually learn something new. They are committed to being a lifelong learner. They continuously learn new things and stay current with their skills, attitudes, and beliefs.
I believe that human potential is amazing. As a result, I believe that we all have the potential to think like winners and change our lives for the better. If you start small by practicing a few of these principles, I believe that over time you will be amazed at your new mindset shifts. You will be amazed at how you will begin to think and act like the winner that I know you are.
Enjoy the journey!
Be well + prosper,
